  • Gist has also recently released a PowerPoint manual to assist in the production of resources. The manual has been designed by our team here at Gist to assist anyone working alongside clients who live with challenges that affect their communication, and learning.  The manual has been developed as a reference and resource for busy support teams to assist in the development of ongoing personally significant activities for their clients. We have chosen to use Power point as the platform for the following reasons:

    • It is well known within the community and educational settings, making it more likely to be supported by a wider range of team members

    • It is cost effective, many computers are supplied with power point software  pre installed

    • It supports multimedia presentation making it personally significant and highly motivating for the client and those around them

    • It can be simple or as complicated as the support team want it to be, making it attractive to a wide range of computer users

    The team members at Gist have a combined experience of 30 years working in the field of assistive technology and main stream use of computers and software.  This experience has told us that we need to provide support staff with skills and resources that will ensure that clients will have ongoing access to activities that are motivating, personally significant and are aimed at a skill level that is age and stage appropriate for the client. Through using this resource you will be challenged to think about issues of: planning, purpose and application.
